Kushtrim Xhakli: blogging since 2003 about new media, technology, mobile, startups, research, innovation, lifestyle, kosovo, events, experiements, politics and science.
Kushtrim Xhakli, an internet entrepreneur, says the problem lies deeper: stick-in-the-mud thinking and no tradition of letting private companies get larger than one family can control. “They are frightened of modern technology and losing control,” he says.
At DLD Conference Lufthansa asked: In view of modern rail travel concepts, what innovative ideas and visions must the aviation industry implement in order still to be attractive in 15 years’ time?
A very good question to discuss, with all frequency of planes growing daily, unconditional weather, delays, and plus now double security checks, traveling has become a nightmare. What will amuse the human being in 15 years to still think that flights are attractive is technology and the use of it in costumer side. More analysis to come in this topic.
I’m going to LIFT Conference 2008 with set of tools to create, share and present. I will create network possibly by increasing my Linkedin connections, I will share conversation and a presence during LIFT08 with Twitter, and will get much social with Facebook (physical contacts only).
Here is the trend graph of recent months popularity of these social networks:
And the most important part is to meet with network of people i created last year, compliments to LIFT team for making the event this year much more valuable to be part of it.
LIFT Conference is about to start soon, this time richer with program attached with preliminary network using social media softwares. As last year main discussion during the breaks was Twitter, this year it Facebook will dominate the field. The recent report provided by Glen O’Neil on Network Mapping shows the increase of network among participants, this time I expect an increase of 30% of contacts in Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter.
During March 2007 group of entrepreneurs, researchers, developers and designers helped me and worked hard to put the site back on its form with many new features on it.

European Summit on Work related to International Issues - Globalisation, International Exchanges, Partnerships & Fair Trade
Last week from 05.10.2003 – 12.10.2003 I was participating on the Council of Europe conference organized by MIJARC Europe with topics about Globalization, International Exchanges, Partnerships & Fair Trade. I was representing NGO Center for Promotion of Education and Kosovo field.
I was analyzing the impacts of globalization within the participants and also how does globalization affect them including international trades, political control, free movements etc. Most of the participants discussed that there are too many different things that can be on globalization process such as decrease of local production, loss of regional culture and privacy.
Some of them described as threat that will increase the gap between rich and poor people and destruction of the environment, but in other way is a fast technological progress, more possibilities to travel, flow of information but this progress is not at the reach of everybody on this world.
A part of conclusion: NGO Role
As a result of our reflection and discussion we developed an “NGO Algorithm”, illustrating the role NGOs have to play in today’s world of globalization. As a starting point, the algorithm predicts that globalization has got positive and negative effects.
The role of NGOs is to always intervene if there are bad consequences. By their activities and projects, they have to fight these bad consequences. Such “correcting” projects have to repeat until the negative effects of globalization are transformed into positive effects, and an equal development of all regions of the world is reached.
Conclusion:
So, small actions can lead to big changes, through small actions we can give hope to people and improve solidarity.
After tonight’s dinner I reserved some time to blog about my trip to here, in France. I usually hate crowded planes with babies on it, too much noise, but it was not that torturing than the metallic internet spot in airports with a fee of 1 Euros for 10 minutes. Metallic Internet Spot not that had the most disabled keyboard and mouse but also it did not let me to open any new window on it.
Anyway the rest of the trip was ok for me reading a book of Douglas Roberson “The next level of civilization” and enjoying the trip. More to come.
I’m going to Macedonia to lecture there. The audience will be youth and we will discuss about Unemployment and Local-Regional Partnership. Its organised by Balkan Children and Youth Foundation and Kosovar Foundation for Open Society in beautiful Ohrid, Macedonia.
LIFT08 was held on 6-8 February, and gathers the experts of technology fields to discuss about the opportunities and challenges in connected society.
